NOTD ~ Nails Of The Day #1

So after much deliberation on what to do for today's post and browsing through multiple websites which were no use to me what so ever. I finally stumbled across a more promising website which gave me the idea which I have decided upon for today's post. I am actually surprised I didn't think of this idea myself as my nails were in much need of being painted (what nails I have anyway) and I am constantly changing my nail polish to try and get through the collection which has somehow formed.

I would first of all like to apologise for the horrendous lighting of the following photos, it is now getting to the time of the year when the light seems to have almost completely disappeared by the time I get back from sixth form and so I had to go with the best lighting I could for now.

As the seasons have changed, I decided it was about time that I say 'hello' to my darker nail polishes which have been sitting at the bottom of my drawer and have yet to make an appearance. So as you can (or probably not) see from the photo, I chose a dark purple for the base of the nail colour and then applied a shimmery colour on the top which gave (what I thought looked like) a space effect. Perfect!

This is the colour I chose for the base of the 'space look' I was going for. I am afraid I have absolutely no idea where this was from as I got it for Christmas in a set which came with 4 other colours. I have a feeling it was from either my local Tesco or Primark! Unless the name of this nail polish is 'flammable' which was on the bottom of the bottle however I highly doubt this and so I also do not know the name of the colour. I will however, do my very best to describe it to you lovely readers!
On first glance, I thought that the colour was black, however after giving it a proper look at I soon realised that it was actually a very dark purple. Although it does look fairly dark in the bottle, when painted on your nails it does apply much lighter, unless of course more coats were applied which would give a darker colour. The nail polish itself does not contain any shimmer so on its own I think it would be perfect if you were going for a more sophisticated look, maybe for a meal.

As I wasn't going for a sophisticated look because as I mentioned, this nail polish will probably be peeled off during a very *cough* interesting *cough* sociology lesson, it was not meant to be anything special and I wanted to add a bit more fun and colour to my nails this colour or shimmer caught my eye. This is one I remember getting fairly well. It was Christmas morning and this was that present you get from the Aunt you never see so I stored it away to never be used, UNTIL NOW! I am so glad I kept this nail polish as it is the perfect top coat for any darker nail polish which you just want to add a bit of colour to. Like the other nail polish, I don't actually know where it was from or the name of it but I hope I have described both as well as possible.

*I am sorry for the state of my nails, I have a habit of biting them and can't seem to stop myself!

Thanks for reading

Adelle x
