As the year has completely flown by and we now somehow find ourselves in October, I thought it would be appropriate for my first blog post to introduce you to some of my 'go-to' or autumn/winter foundations.I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to share the foundations I always go running back to when the weather gets chilly and the wind is blowing so hard in your face that it is impossible to see.
Rimmel London Stay Matte: To start things off is the stay matte foundation, which is my most recent purchase out of the three. To be completely honest, I had no idea what to expect as it was what I would call an 'impulse buy' and saw it in my local Superdrug and (not that I need anymore) thought it was time for a new foundation. Now, although I have only had this foundation in my (rather large) collection for a few weeks it has come to my attention that I think I may be falling in love with it. The packaging itself is what drew me in at first, as I did do SOME research, I knew that the foundation came out of a.. nozzle, is the best way I could describe it, which immediately makes me like a foundation as there is no/little mess involved, unlike a bottle where you're there for hours (ok, slight over exaggeration) trying to get it out without spilling it everywhere and as I have a cream carpet this would probably not be the best thing to happen. I realise I've rambled on quite a bit so I will crack on to the actual product. The foundation itself is more like a mousse consistency than the normal liquid foundations and so I find that this makes it so easy to apply as it feels like it is just gliding on. I would say this foundation has a medium coverage because of the mousse consistency but it is not so thick that you look like you caked it on so a nice in-between coverage.
Revlon Nearly Naked: I would just like to apologise for the amount of rambling which occurred in the previous paragraph/novel.
This foundation is my favorite out of the three. It is basically the liquid form of the Stay Matte Mousse (see above). Apart from the fact that it does take quite a while to blend into the skin, this foundation does everything a foundation should do. It hides any redness or marks on your face, givng you flawless skin and one layer is plenty to do the job. I just can't say enough good things about this foundation. The reason I love this foundation so much during the autumn/winter is because I have very dry skin all year round let alone when it's -10 degrees outside and I am struggling to think straight. So I need a foundation which will not dry my skin out even more. This foundation, ladies (and maybe gentlemen) is the savior of me trying to find a foundation which does not dry my skin out. It. is. perfect.
No7 Beautifully Matte Mousse: So I know I am contradicting myself here by saying I have dry skin all year round and then I go and buy a mousse foundation, however, I do get certain patches on my face where oiliness does occur and when it does I need to be able to sort this problemo out asap. I find that this foundation not only sorts this problem out but it also doesn't need re-applying throughout the day, which is something that I find very annoying, especially while I am at sixth form. I do not want to be flapping around trying to make my face look better in the toilets. You also only need the tiniest splodge of this on a brush and it will cover all of the areas I need so there is no need for me to panic about having to rush out and buy a new one every week.
Because this is my first blog post, I'd love to hear any tips or ideas you have for me to either improve on or what you would like my next blog post should be on. Or just comment what your favorite foundations are to use during the colder months, as I would love to have some new ones to try out!
Thanks for reading,
Adelle x
